SA: well known game farmer from the Free State arrested for possession of rhino horns
Martin le Roux and a co-accused have been released on bail after being arrested for possession of rhinohorn worth R7,6 million
The game farmer Martin le Roux and Jacques Malan were arrested on Sept 20th in Standerton, Mpumalanga.
According to some intel the 2 accused claimed to be the agent for the owner of the rhino horns. They were selling the horns to a possible buyer when they got arrested.
The buyer was a Chinese man, used by the Hawks as bait.
It is still not clear where the horns came from.
The Hawks, Benoni police force and rangers worked together on this arrest. Police has aslo confiscated an unlicensed .38 special revolver.
Both men have been released on a R 30.000 bail and will appear in court on November 30th. Their passports have been taken in. ... See more
